Or should i say middle age depression...
They say missery loves company...but consider you guys-n-gals a support group.
Anyhow...

1st car at 15 was a 68fb, and 2nd a 67fb(still have).
But always wanted a 65,68,69 GTO.
After raise'n kids, about 5 yrs ago finally found a solid 68 "roller" could afford.
Then we merged with another company and took a pay cut.
When economy took a dive, so did commission.
Been work'n part time nights since.
Wanting to restore the 67, and repanel/paint the 68.
Plus re-hab'n a 88 Bonny with my son...till this spring. He's work'n 2 part time jobs now.
Get'n older with less spare time, and just 2 car garage, got overwhelmed.
So let the GTO go 2 weeks ago this Sunday.
Worst part it needed no panels. Just strip-n-repaint, drop in engine/trans. Make an excellant driver.
Just keep tel'n myself not right let'n the GTO sit out back get'n worse from weather.
Guess i'll hav to settle on be'n "just" a 1st gen guy.
Know things could be lots worse. Still have both birds.

Whats your car depression?

My car hates me...

My story is too depressing for print.
I try to focus on the possibility for better things to come.

This forum is excellent for all of us. We all have the same 1st love and we aint ashamed about it!

Communicating with you guys and putzing around on my bird is the best thing for me right now.

Hang in there "RW", tomorrow is another day of opportunity!

I'm right here with you guys. Here is what we've lost in the past 12 months:

Vision (down to 18* in one eye and zero in the other).
Lost my career.
Lost our health ins.
Lost our 68 Firebird to a rearend collision by an illegal and subsequently have 6 ruptured discs in my back.
Lost our first and last new vehicle ever (now driving a 1995 G20 van with a windsheild that leaks like a shower and has no heat HVAC is toast) imagine us taking this van to Buffalo in two weeks, should be a good time no doubt.
Lost our house.
The LeMans in currently on the chopping block.

So yeah, I hear ya about depression. I've just about had it. If I didn't have the greatest wife and kids on earth I would have pulled the plug months ago! I turned 40 two years ago and since that day, my entire life hs turned to absolute [censored] and we have lost basically everything at this point. LOL Oh well, at least I had a decent first 40 years, more than some get.

At this point all we can do is hope 2011 brings better times although at this point I highly doubt it...

After that my car depression will sound so superficial.

I got my first 'Cuda at 18 and bought four more over the next few years, along with a Satellite, Nova, a couple of Cutlasses and other toys that served as my daily drivers.

The cream of the crop was a '70 'Cuda 440-6 pack. It had 13000 miles and was a former pro drag car. I got it in trade for another 'Cuda that was basically good only for parts but was loaded with rare options. This one was solid as a rock but it needed a full resto to be a street car. I spent 13 years and years of hard earned minimum wage gathering rare parts in the pre-internet days and then building the drivetrain. The car was a running project the whole time, with a 400 auto in place of the 440 four speed for most of its daily driver years. This car was with me for 13 years from early adulthood to second house and second child and was driven year round for pizza delivery, work commuter, hauling a boat on the roof on vacation, and so many more memorable events. A combination of factors separated me from my car and I will forever watch for it to come up for sale.

my car depression is & has hit this year i cant wait for 2010 to be gone ,& just hoping 2011 will be better. this is the roughest year i can remember . i have i 24 year old son about killed his self on a motorcycle,& trying to keep him afloat with his bills has drained my wives & my savings & put a balance on our charge card for the first time since my wife & i have both been working. i 21 year old daughter that quit college & moved in with a boyfriend. she is now pregnant . when she moved out she stuck us with a $1200. cell phone bill, the phone was in my name.i was the co-signer on her car she quit making car payments . so my wife & i took a loan against our daily driver & 69 bird to pay her car off- to get it off of us. to find out lately she took a loan out at a title loan shop against her car & lost it. OH well . need less to say for the past two months i have been having chest pains & felling my heart raise fast at times.my blood pressure is high - in the past it was always low. (i am sure stress related ) i went to have a stress test the day before yesterday , waiting on results. so since this past june i have been too down to play with the firebird in the garage.so people your not alone. i keep telling my self their is always someone that has it worse than i do. frown

Of course you need to follow your doctors advice, but sounds quite a bit like anxiety. The best cure is getting back to doing things you used to do. Get out there and perhaps just put a coat of wax on the car. Try a glass of wine before going to bed at night. (if your doctor approves) and exercise, again if doctor allows. Anxiety is very powerful, and can be dangerous. My wife and I also had a very challenging year not so long ago. It started with one of our dogs getting lung cancer, and us having to put him down. Then numerous health issues for 3 of our parents had us very run down. Fortunatley te past couple years have been better. We are still blessed with our parents also! Beleive it can and will get better.
