Only in the 40's here right now. If your an orange juice drinker, you may want to stock up NOW because the local orchards are all claiming total disaster for their crops.
Went to a local grower today to have fruit shipped for my friend who has been staying with us past couple of weeks. From the sound of things, this may be the worst freezing of fruit for the entire state of FL in history... I can tell you right now, my fruit are frozen!

Gotta love it here in BC. Not too hot, never too cold. A little wet at times, but it keeps it beautiful, and it sure beats shoveling! But if we do want snow, we don't have to go very far.

6 above here now and the first half of December has been one of the coldest in history. When we were in Chicago in the winter of '94 I wore nothing heaver than a trench coat. Pipes were freezing and homeless people were dying. Nobody get excited here until we get prolonged temp below -35C. It's a dry cold and usually it's clear without snow when it's very cold. We have been lucky so far this year ... warmer than usual and only two small snow falls! In the summer we start to die here at 85F. When I arrived in Chicago in August it was 80F + humidity and I was dying. I definitely cannot handle extreme heat. Hawaii weather works the best for us. That's cold. I suppose it's all relative.

I always rememeber how in March when it hits 40 degrees we are all running around in shorts and T-shirts. But in November when it hits 40, we are all freezing.
Yes, it is all relative. And I hate the humidity too. I've been to Florida a couple of times in summer and I have no clue how anybody can live there.

yes its relative.....I`m in Houston now and think its cold here....but one of the reasons I`m here is because my military service in Sweden..in the winter of (febr) 1964, we broke some 40 yr old cold records and we were camping out in tents, it was -40F (=-40C) and I DID NOT like it!

Florida memebers never have to discuss "End of Season" storage as our "season" last for 365 days

We went to Disney World in Dec '95. It was 50F! At the same time records were broke at home ... it was 50F in Alberta. WTF!

Doug,
I can't be of much help about Apollo Beach since I've never been there, but what I've seen of Tampa and Brandenton Beach seemed nice. I'll agree with everything creekbob and Earlybird have said.
The one thing I've noticed since moving down here (originally from Kansas) is that the thermometer lies. The hot days feel hotter and the cold days (all 4 of them a year) feel colder.
If you're willing to wait a year or so, the housing prices in the Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach/Merritt Island/Titusville area will probably take another dip. With NASA not flying the Space Shuttle anymore (2 flights left), gov't contractors are going to be looking for jobs and there's not a lot of industry in the area from what I can tell. Tourism and NASA seem to be the big draws. Titusville is a good example of what happens when NASA ends a program. From what I understand, it was a booming town at the end of the Apollo program. In years after, it slowly dwindled. It's still a nice place, but it doesn't look like it ever bounced back. YMMV

Keep in mind that most people in Florida are not from Florida. South of Ocala should really be called Southern NJ, and Southern NY on the East Coast. The West Coast would be considered as Southern Michigan.
