Hello,
i've been looking at my rear wheels/tires. they don't look evenly spaced distance-wise from the rear quarter lips ? the left side tire sticks out about 3/4"- 1" farther than the right side (they are N50's so they stick out a little bit). at first i thought the left quarter panel sat in further (i replaced it from NPD parts), but now i think its the axle/rearend that is slightly shifted to the left. i know a long time ago, the car had been hit in the left rear quarter. is it possible it shifted the rear-end ? i put new leaf springs, shocks, and mounts. is it possible the frame rails are bent slightly towards the right? or maybe i didnt align the rearend correctly whe i installed it ? any ideas ? thanks.

Pull the wheels off and verify that they have the same offset. Once they are off you can also place a straight edge on the drum and measure to the leafspring on each respective side. Process of elimination will tell you where the problem is.

Every Camaro or Firebird I have seen is offset about an inch.
Now I have not seen every car made, but I have seen a few.
I have seen a lot of 3rd gen Novas like that also, as they use the same rearend

Mine is very close, but my friend Bill actually noticed the first time he saw my car. He has had his over 20 years, and it is off. He also said they are all off.

Learn something every day. How about that. Don't believe I've ever noticed that in 42 years of owning mine. Sure enough, it is about an inch different between the two.

You notice it real fast when you stuff the biggest tire you can under it. Like I did shocked

That's for sure. The F70's don't show it that much.

I wonder if it is the engine offset being carried all the way to the back of the drivetrain. Next time I'm under mine, I'll have to measure the tunnel to see if it is shifted over a bit too.

I think it's pretty normal for the axles of vehicles to not be centered. The Dodge trucks I've owned have been the same way too.
