Has anyone here had first hand experiance between the 3.36 vs 3.55 gear ratios, my bird has the 4.10/4.11? very low geared. and I would like to go back to what was stock, and that was the 3.36, but they are very difficult to get, Yukon is the only one I can find that makes ths ratio in BOP, and they are back ordered for 2 months. I did the RPM calculator, and there was only about a 100 RPM difference at 65 mph, but I would still like the original set up. Any suggestions? Should I hold out for the 3.36 or get what they have in stock, the 3.55. Thanks for the help guys. Joe

Theres a member here(Monraz?) that has 3.36's from time to time. 3.55's are not much more vs 3.36's. I like little more gearing with larger tires for better traction.

I have 3.55's. I am turning about 3K RPM at 60 mph.
By contrast, my 3/4 ton Chevy PU with a 4.11 rear and overdrive turns about 2100 at 60.
Now that I have experienced it and if I had the choice, I would go 3.36 unless I planned a lot of 1/4 mile action.

I know I know, I'm not sure if you are looking at keeping the car original. But if you ever plan on going with a overdrive transmission you can go a little steeper in the gears and still have good rpm's in OD.

Keep your rear gear and go with 5-speed overdrive. Best of both worlds. If you are worried about originality, keep the 4 spd for the next owner. Just my $0.02.

Good news, I found my 3.36 gears at Western Drive Train, www.axle&gear.com. I ordered them last Tuesday and they were here Thursday, wow,now that is service, I was really impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of this outfit, I have never delt with them before, but now I would highly recommend them. As soon as i paint this 1969 Road Runner in my shop I will be installing them in my Bird. Cheers!!!
