I am looking to put a radio in my car, and did not want to cut the dash. I have been looking around and there are some available that have the new insides, but look stock. The one I am looking at it is about 600 bucks, but its only 2 1/2 inches deep to accomodate a larger dash speaker. There are a couple of companies, Heartbeat city, and Vintage Auto Radio, I have looked at these.

My question is, has anyone on here had any experience with these, and are they worth it? I need music, so any help and suggestions would be great, as usual. Thanks.

That looks to be a good option as well, unfortunately I just have a hole, no radio. I will keep that in mind though, in case I put an original radio in for looks.

I've been dreaming of one of those 600 buck fake originals. They look great. Just a little pricy.

I'm in the same spot you are. I've been thinking about it all winter. I've been tied up in negotiations all week but when I get a break at the end of the week - I'm going for it.
the lowest price I've found is at Mike Hagan's for 579. Also getting the front and rear speakers.....not going to tell the wife just yet - about the final price and not the radio.

I just purchased one from Custom Autosound $229.00. Fit right in. It has the markings on dial like the old ones but has LED when on. Works great and has the connection for a flash drive. No cd player and is pretty small to clear speakers. This is the second radio I purchased from them

I've got one of the Custom Autosound radios, the analog dial model. It sounds good but mechanically it's a POS. The dial indicator doesn't work so I have to blindly search for stations. I just leave it on one station. Maybe the digital ones are OK.

I have a Custom Auto Sound digital system that works great in the 67 Camaro. None made for the 69 Firebird dash yet from them, so I went with Secret Audio. Installing the dash speaker and 2 tweeters on the pillars helped out alot in the vert. Got the kick panels with speakers and did not put any speakers in the back. You can hear it just fine standing on the side of the road when we go by and it is only at 1/2 volume.

Has the new autosound have sub out as well?

The model I bought does not. Not sure on their pricier models.

There is also a guy who will take your stock AM radio and convert the guts to new specs that are identical to the radio that sells for $599. He uses your stock AM radio converts it to AM/FM/iPod input, 80 watts etc. Your radio still looks like only an AM radio, but when you turn it on and off and back on it goes to FM. I know someone who has this and it looks, works and sounds EXCELLENT. This guy does the conversion for $399 plus $20 shipping. I'll get his info and post it...
