well i got rid of my rodchester for now and using a holly. i could never get the thing to run right. i love this holly. the reason im here is that the car idles well now but when i open it up i noticed a slight pop through the secondaries of the carb. could it be the size of the carb or not adjusted correctly? timing? its a spead bore without external float adjustments. the heads are rebuilt but could is it possibly a valve problem? that was why i asked for push rod sizes. i was thinking that the rods are too long and that the valve was not closing correctly. if that was the case what would be a good clue to check for? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem...... Cured it by adjusting the timing

Had the exact same problem when running manifold vacuum advance. Switched to ported and problem solved!!!
