I am putting my 69 conv together prior to the final body work. I have two new fenders but original doors and a 400 hood on a 350 car. When I took it part the gaps were good with this hood.

Now I understand how to attack this. I have the door gaps good to rockers and to the quarters. When I get the gaps good on the fenders to the doors the fender to the hood has a 1/8 gap on one side but no gap on the other.

I can move the whole front of the door out and make things work but then I am afraid the window will be out of adjustments. I will be including pics of where the top of the front part of the door meets the pillar. If I move the door out any further will that be too far? Most pics I see the door is pushed in more than mine now.

One important thing, I didn't have the wheel houses on yet. Will this help widen the gap from hood to fenders?

I have messed with this for an entire week. Please give me any suggestions to try.

Thanks,

SAM

You might be able to adjust it by shifting the core support. Some pictures will help.

I would like to say no, but I need to see what's going on.

is the fender sticking out too far near the door ? mine was if you add more shims to the bottom of the fender , it will suck in the fender some. i have a 69, took me a while to get the door gaps good. But your on the right track. align the doors to the body/ rockers. then adjust the fenders / hood and radiator support to even out the gaps. kind of spread out the error. i think the hardest part was the nose! OMG everything is slotted , i think it took me a week to get it accepatable.

i didnt see this , "When I get the gaps good on the fenders to the doors the fender to the hood has a 1/8 gap on one side but no gap on the other. "

readjust the hood 1/16 gap would be fineon each side along the hood to fender.
