I have a 68 firebird with drum brakes. Sometime down the road i would like to put discs on the front. I was looking at the Torq thrust 2's and i wasnt sure about the backspacing and rim/tire size. I was wanting to order 17x8 with 4.5 backspacing for the front and 17x9.5 with 5.5 backspacing for the rear. If i switch to discs, will the rims stick out more or less? What ratio of tire....thinking 40 series in front and 45 series in back. Basically i want a nice stance without any rubbing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have the stock suspension from 68 also.

I bought my rims & tires from Nostalgia Wheels. They had a 69 Camaro in their pictures. I asked the guy on the phone what size & back space they were and he told before I could finish the sentence. Ordered them & they fit a perfect.

Sounds like the combo you're looking at would work.

mine are that size but 18"s. 4 wheel disc with no tire rub. 225/45 front, 255/40 rear. i would go 275 rear next time

well the 9.5 wide rear wheels have to be custom made for that wheel. So i think i will go with 7 wide in front and 8 wide in the rear. I believe the 7 wide is with 4"backspacing and the 8's are 4.81 backspacing. I can get the wheels and tires for 1300.00. That is probably the route i will go. Thanks for all of your help
