That looks great! I was quoting the dealer with the term. I thought, based on pics, it looked pretty darn good. Plus, I love black.

You've done quite bit to yours. Never seen a front end done like that or the side vents on the front quarter panel. I can't imagine it looked close to that for what you paid.

side 'vents' (chrome decals) are stock on 69s...well, yes I` ve done quite a bit...the paint job I had done (as it had two red colors front fenders, burn marks from carb fire on hood, rust etc) , but I bought it for $8000, now have about $25000 in it ,incl paint....
but it had a re built engine with 9,000 miles on it, brakes worked, so there was a good start...never did a total resto, just 'running resto, always could drive the car with exception of twice in paint shop...I did first the doors and back, rust removal paint for $1250, 3 weeks later came back and did hood ,front fenders etc...for another $1250...my buddy told me it would be less money to "repair" the car than to "re paint" a classic.....he was right

At least you could probably just about break even if you sold it. That's always kind of a nice feeling to have to know you didn't just throw all that dough into the garbge disposal.

agreed, tried to 'just have fun' and for not a huge sum of money....hopefully I can break pretty much even when selling it, meaning the cost per mile is mainly gas and tires, maintenance.

Now if the dealer starts telling you is has "driver Buick wheels", then that's the time to run as fast as you can. grin

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe.

I think a "running resto" is the way to go if possible. The holding value is the good part. My Harley was the same way. I sold it for exactly what I paid so it was basically like renting it for 5 years and all I had to cover was gas, property taxes and maintenance.

As far as my search, my head is spinning. I think I may just pull back for a bit. The SC bird I posted in my new thread "My FGF Search" is 9.5K but I'm just having a hard time pulling the trigger without seeing it in person or at least having someone check it out. I really have no idea what I'm looking at being so new to this. If I hired an appraiser, I still wouldn't know if the info he gave me equated to the price. The exterior looks done aside from badges.

Bjorn, I'm a little dissapointed that you, of all people, would post pictures of your car without girls on the hood...

Having bought one car like that, my advice is, NO, dont.
