What would be the best oil to run in a newly overhauled OHC-6 and is there any recommendations for additive?

I run 10W-30 with a break-in additive that has zinc.

You will need as much zinc as you can get to keep the cam and followers happy. Comp cams break in oil additive has a lot of zinc as does STP oil treatment, which is what I used in my cammer. Some use Rotella for diesels, but I heard they have dropped the zinc content. Brad Penn and royal purple have high zinc oils as well.

Brad Penn now sells a high zinc straight 30 weight oil specifically for break-ins. http://penngrade1.com/Products/High-Performance/Break-In-Oil.aspx
