vacuum leak at the top of the car just a few inches behind where the air filter stud is.carb is a 4 barrel rochester.does anybody now what that hole goes to?

If I am correct in asumeing your talking about the large port that is at the back of the carb,at the base, then one line runs to the power brake booster, and as on mine there's a tee withe a 1/4 inch line that runs to the modulator on the transmission.

the port i was refering to is on the top of the carb.the air filter housing surrounds it.it is just a hole that i have vacuum on.

Is it next to the air filter housing ring?
If yes, it's not a vacuum leak, it's part of the carb., there is another one toward the secondary rod hanger too.

He might be referring to the fuel bowl vents.
