I am in need of a rear license plate bracket for my 69 coupe. These also act as a door for the gas filler. I'm having a heck of a time finding one. I found that Classic has them listed, but out of stock.

I found a few places that sell 69 camaro license plate brackets (for half the price to boot). Are these interchangeable? Or could the camaro bracket be made to work on the firebird?

Having the license plate taped to the rear window is really starting to look silly.

thanks

Basically, I have nothing but a hole in the car where the gas cap is. I would need any bracket or holder, or whatever goes back there.

If you find the bracket/holder, let me know what you'd want for them. I think I'm close by (Portsmouth).

Honestly, I'm not even sure what I need. I don't have any kind of bracket or lic plate holder of any kind on there now. I'll attach a pic of what's at the back of the car now. Basically I have 2 holes, so whatever is needed from there on is what I need.

Let me know what you have and how much it is, when you get a chance (no rush).

thanks!!

The bracket and the plate holder/gas filler door are not separate pices on a 69 Firebird (I don't know how it is on a Camaro). Classic Industries sell a repro of this part:

Yep, I saw that too. Only problem with that (aside from expensive), is that when you add it to your shopping cart, they tell you that they're out of stock.

i got my mounting bracket at ames , i have the one from classic industries the holes are wrong on the tail panel side. i was lazy, instead of drilling new holes. i was at ames one afternoon and just snagged it while i was there. it is perfect. bolted right up. give me a bit. i'll find it ,my garage is a mess. But i know i have both parts. Either in the shed or garage.

I don't have a separate bracket on my Firebird, and I think that is original. See here (scroll down to the last page "1969 Firebird rear bumper"):
http://thefirstgensite.com/library/partscounter/illustrated/front/bump1.html

The "DOOR ASM, Fuel Tank Filler" is crimped together (bracket, door, axle and spring is a non-separable assembly).

I finally found it ! yes the holder and the spring loaded door are one. i had to purchase this bracket to make it fit right. i really dont know what happened to the one that came with the car . But this setup works prefect.

Can you post a pic of your plate assembly ? front and back , or just pull it down so i can see how its mounted. If the doner bird i found still has the original plate assembly, i'll snag it.

I have no license plate bracket, holder, etc on my car. I just have 2 holes in the rear panel under the opening for the gas cap.

Looks like what I need is the Door Assy on the 1969 firebird assembly drawing that was posted above. I was thinking that if the camaro assembly was close, I could work out some kind of bracket/adapter to make it work...only because the camaro part is cheaper and more readily available.

Oh it is ,the picture is exacly what i have on my car. the only thing is if you look at the holes for mounting to the body , the should line up exacly with the hinge door bolts.

It works and looks correct.

No perfection needed here! Can you confirm what you want for that assembly? Is it possible to ship it? If not, I can swing by and pick it up. I might be headed that way next week sometime to pickup a new hood too. (Shipping would be to 03903 if possible)

Everyone was packing up when I got there. People aren't kidding when they say get there early! I think a few rain drops were making some people pack up even earlier than normal.

But from what I saw, I can see that it's worth going again...earlier this time!
