when i check, there's 12 volts at the HEI distributor and spark. reconnect everything and car starts right up, runs for 30 seconds, then just dies. sometimes it all but quits , then jumps back to life, then dies within the 30 seconds. everytime i check the carburetor, there's fuel. i haven't changed anything recently

any ideas? thanks

get a test light hooked up to the HEI and get it running when it dies if the light goes out, troubleshoot back from that point...light stays on then troubleshoot forward, sounds like a coil issue right now.

thanks, Jeff. light goes out. turned off key and about 10 seconds later, light flickered. ghost in the machine? lol. i can fix that. at least it's not the distributor. maybe it's related to my "no brake lights or turn signals" problem
