My buddy gave me a leftover new fender from his '67 Camaro. Other than the emblem holes, is it the same as a Firebird fender?

Depends. I believe there is something about whether the fender was for an RS version or not? Try a search here - this comes up pretty often.

And new Firebird fenders do not have emblem holes in them.

The Camaro fenders also have a small notch in them for the front bumper brackets when they bolt tot he lower corner piece. they can be used, but the notch needs to be modified.

Rs fenders have an extra bracket to mount the hide away door trim and easily removed. but selling RS fenders can make a good buck or 3.

His is not an RS, but is an SS. It it a repro fender that he thought he would need when he repainted a few years ago and didn't need. I'll look at the label on it.

As long as it is not for RS (hidden headlights), it should work fine.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

Boater Bill is right, fenders have a notch for the front bumper. they will bolt up but you need to fill the gap in. I'd sell it to a Camaro guy for double what you paid lol

Leave it to me to fan the flames. If the car was an rs/ss, it will only be identified by ss badge. The hideaway headlights rs option is identified by noticeing the car has hidw away headlights.

Amazingly, there are still lots of folks who don't realise that there was an rs/ss option. The only thing I know about Camaros is that the crayon scribble that everyone loves to put on their firewall wasn't on it when the car was made.

The point is that if rs and ss fenders are different, the fenders could be rs fenders but are identified as ss because that's what it said on the car. It's the same thing as the kid who just hollered out nice firebird. When his buddy asked him how did he know it was a firebird, the kid said "Says so on the fender." The only mistery is whose story is it?

I just so happen to have a picture of a 7 rr/ss vert, that was sitting in front of my parentss' house on 8/22/81, 31 years ago yesterday. It's kinda' sorta' a picture of an rs/ss. You gotta work with me on this one. The car is sitting just behind mine.

And in the picture of my present car, taken sometime between 85 and 87, where the hell did those doors and decklid come from?
