I just pulled the seats from my 68 convertible. they need some small repairs. advise needed; take to upholstery shop and let them match? order needed vinyl from ames , PUI etc and let upholstery shop use the fabric i deliver ? las vegas

If the repairs are not major, I'd take them to a local shop that works on auto upholstry. My local guy is amazing! He fixed a couple things on my seats that I did not think could be fixed. I saved a ton of $$ in the process.


I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe.

One of my seats had a split seam at the top and my wife was able to hand sew it back together.

If the vinyl is split/torn then new covers are needed. PUI has some videos of putting new covers on.

Not necessarily. The guy that worked on my seats was able to fix some splits and one tear on my original seat covers. You cannot even see where the repairs were made. Now we are talking splits and tears of 2" or less, no missing material, etc. If you have missing pieces, LARGE tears, etc, then you will likely need new covers. He also said that the preformed foam was not worth the $80-$100 apiece. He said he could heat-cut his own foam for much less than that. (food for thought)
