More and more often lately I'm finding an inability to read and/or post on this site. Click a link, and it MIGHT switch to the next page after a 30 second+ wait. Might never happen. Yesterday was particularly bad, I attemped 8 separate times to create this post and had to bail every time because it just locked up the browser. Sometimes I get a "failed to load" screen, sometimes "exceeded concurrent process" screen, sometimes it just sits there with the whirly circle spinning and nothing ever happens even after a bathroom break.
I am 100% appreciative and aware of the fact this is an unpaid deal and handled by probably ONE very dedicated volunteer, so please don't jump down my throat...but I wonder if the site would get more traffic than it does now, if it simply worked properly and consistently when links and buttons are clicked.
Somehow I doubt I'm alone in this, as I do not believe it to be a problem on my end. Do some of you have the same problem?
I participate in a number of other forums for snowmobiling, boating, local interest, etc and I surf the web quite frequently, and run a business from my computer. FGF seems to be the ONLY site I have consistent problems with. Anyone know why, or how it might be easily repaired without too many volunteer hours destroyed? I'm not IT savvy and unfortunately cannot help with offering a suggested solution. Just wondering if it could be a simple as needing to clean up and delete some of the 4 year old classified ads, etc to free up some capacity? Or is there a virus or something hogging up the server that supports this site? Whatever it might be, I do feel it is worthy of looking into.
Thanks for consideration. And thanks for keeping this site alive. Even if it's a bit old and slow to fire sometimes, so is my car...and I still like it LOL!
Yesterday was about the worst it has been in a year or so. But I agree, since changing servers, lack of speed and error messages are VERY common these days. And after discussing with a few other members, I can assure you it is not your (or my) equipment.
I love this site, but some days are so frustrating that its not worth my time. I'm no IT guy either, so no suggestions there.

I have been experiencing a lot of trouble with the site lately as well. Thursday was especially bad. Not sure what can been done. I guess Geoff will have to look at the server and troubleshoot the problem. They may have to move it to another server because the current server is too bogged down with other web apps.

I've had the same issues. It's been good up till about 3 or 4 days ago (hadn't noticed it being slower than anone else.) I have noticed there are a LOT more "guests" on the site recently than in the past. Could be an issue again with the company that hosts the server.
-=>Lee<=- Due to budget constraints the "light at the end of the tunnel" has been turned off!
but I see this....maybe this is why 'maintenance' is going on now.
FORUM IS CURRENTLY CLOSED! The board is closed due to routine maintenance and back up in progress. We do not have an ETA for when we expect to be complete but hope it is quick and without issues. If it takes longer than planned, we will post an update on our Facebook Fan Page: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=119167601432787 Thanks - Geoff
