Hello FirstGen friends.. I have discussed this car before but I have FINALLY cleared out the garage for its sale and removal.

Link to photos here: 1967 Firebird 400 Project photos

This car has been garaged for 30 years. It is 80% original just as I left it 30 years ago (except for the surface rust accumulated since that time). You can see the surface rust throughout the body, but all floor boards and trunk compartment flooring is firm and not rusted through. Both doors are bondo'd but lines are great and ready to be sanded and painted. Although the front fenders are 'frenched' with no holes for emblems, the lines are straight and fenders are solid. Engine is seized, and I believe the crank cannot be turned by hand. Auto Transmission is toast and needs rebuild. A VERY straight 1968 front bumper with good chrome IS INCLUDED WITH THIS DEAL (Photo will be supplied soon). The interior is sound, the dashboard vinyl is perfect and steering wheel is too. The front lower valance on this car is from a 1968 Firebird. The hood and deck lid are straight as can be but emblem holes filled in. Otherwise, car is original as I left it in 1983 and haven't touched it since. Light fixtures are gone but I am trying to locate them in storage. If I find them they will be included but car is for sale without them.

Note that the rear window left side quarter panel will require replacement or crafty grafting metal work. Rear window is missing. Mysteriously, the glove compartment door and gas cap lid are also missing. I have no idea where those went!

$3K or BEST OFFER. Buyer must be able to remove vehicle from garage! I have ready access to this garage. This is NOT a scam. This is MY vehicle and I have the pink slip in my name and both original CALIFORNIA black/yellow license plates are in the trunk! I never got into an accident in this car, but it obviously had a rear end smack and a door hit prior to my owning it.

I am very easy to work with so I welcome all comments, critical or otherwise. I am not able to move this vehicle out and down a driveway myself so you must be able to handle this task as part of the sale.

If interested, please drop me a note here. Thank you.

Scott from Southern California

In case anybody needs extra motivation - this car is 1 of approximately 1500 400's built for California.

If I did not already have 1 in the garage, I would be in your driveway honking and showing you the $$$.

A very worthy project. I hope someone buys it quickly! I still require a female humanoid so I better stop looking at your car.

Good luck and God bless you for saving her all these years!

Fellow FGF member 'Gasgacinch' has been kind enough to inform me that the rims on my 67 FB 400 might be 'American Racing MAGNESIUM rims' similar to those shown here: Vintage Magnesium rims on Ebay

Keep this in mind when considering my $3K asking price. Prospective buyers are welcome test to the rims for magnesium if they wish. I've read that if you take a swab of white vinegar onto the rim it will bubble and form hydrogen gas if it's magnesium.

It's nice to see another CA 400. I have one as well... been thinking about selling it for awhile. Now I am thinking about picking yours up and having two of them, lol.

1967 firebird A.I.R. 400 or California-emissions Firebird 400 four-speed hardtop. It also came with dual factory traction bars or safe-T- track rear axle, 10 bolt posi, front power disc brakes, PS, a Muncie 4 speed, Console, Dual exhaust, dual horns, and Soft Ray Glass windshield. Red on Red car... and a hood tach, rally gauge cluster... Maybe for sale??? Its sitting in MO and I am now in CA. Anyone want to haul it my way? PM me.

1220 of them were “(WU)” 400 A.I.R. 4 barrel manual transmissions. (Engine codes in parenthesis are for cars built with AIR Injector Exhaust Control, code 616. This was an emissions reduction modification performed on the heads. They were cast with an air injection passage to reduce emissions. They were installed on Firebirds manufactured for sale in California only).

It has a 24 339 code for the dealer on it from PHS... It was from Peninsula Pontiac, 2909 Pacific Coast Highway, Torrence, CA 90505

I have added photos of a 1968 front bumper w/out light fixtures that are part of this deal if you purchase the car that is subject of this thread. The chrome is 45 years old but you'd never know it by looking at it..

Photos are here:

I will gladly answer any questions on this car. Someone here please buy it so I won't have to put it on Ebay and sell it to a 'stranger'!

Anyone from California interested? My dream would be to see this car again AFTER it's restored. This was my FIRST car! I know times are tough economically.. This post is just a 'nudge' if anyone's interested.

Thanks to the site host for giving us this venue to chat and list our Firebirds for sale! God Bless.

Here's an update for everyone:

Scott from Southern California was kind enough to let me adopt this great Firebird. It was always my dream to own a 1967 red Firebird. It was also Scott's dream to see this car restored as it was his very first car!

The wait is almost over. The body and interior have been restored. The drive train has been completely rebuilt. Two fellow FGF members helped me with various aspects of the restoration and I'm proud to say that we gave this car the restoration it deserved. Stay tuned for before and after pics. Here's a preview.

Oh, and by the way...the wheels ARE magnesium!
