My 68 has a space saver spare. It doesn't appear to have ever been used. Somebody tell me about these things. Are they one and done or are they reusable? How do you shrink them back to being a space saver? I'm assuming they can be reused. What about the inflator? Is it refillable? I'm wondering if I should test mine out. If it's no good it's just dead weight in the trunk.

These days they are just for show. I am looking for a nice one with canister if you want to sell.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. The tire could be inflated multiple times when newer and would go back into stored shape as they deflate. A new bottle would be purchased if used. I used mine a few times for it's intended purpose and as a way to rotate the wheels. As Bjorn says, I would not inflate or use one as old as they are. Both the tire and inflator are for display only now.

I found this on YouTube - Space Saver Tire. So this answers my question fairly well, but I'm still interested in hearing actual experiences from fellow Firebird enthusiasts.
