Ladies and Gents,
Its been a while since I've talked to you young folks...after a year and a half, I am finally finishing up with all the officer and MOS training here in Quantico, VA with the Marines.
I just found out they are sending me to Camp Pendleton (San Diago) for year.
I currently have a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited but I'd love to finally use the car the bird. Its been at my parents house in the barn for the last year. I was home last weekend for my sisters wedding started up on the first crank and I took over the garage once again!!!
Now the question is...Do I ship the bird out with me?
Snapped this picture pulling her back in her garage

How long will you be at Camp Pendleton? When would you expect to PCS again and any idea where?

I would absolutely NOT take my classic car out there for several reasons:
1. Chances are likely you will be parking your classic in the open (no cover) unless you rent a garage from somebody. (which would be crazy expensive in So Cal). 2. WAY too close to the Mexican border. If it's stolen - it will be across the border before you know it's missing 3. It would be transported by a Gov contractor. Read lowest bidder.

So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. Unless your parents plan to move within the year, I'd leave it safe and sound tucked in their garage.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Thanks for the advice Gents. Unfortunately I would have to pay for the shipping and it would be garage kept but I'll keep you all updated on what I decide. I just miss having her around.
Not sure where the next PCS will be...it could be to the Chicago area to work with a unit up in Great Lakes, IL.

If it was me and I knew I had a secure place to keep it I would drive it out and enjoy it for the whole year on the west coast. Imagine how much fun that would be. Probably cost about the same for gas as to have it shipped but that's no fun. Life is short! Those who hesitate are lost. I'm sure I could come up with another half dozen cliches but you get my drift. One more...Use it or lose it. You only get one shot at life. You can always make more money but there is nobody to buy more time from(that one's mine).

The drive across the country is an adventure, to do it in a firebird would be unforgettable. You can stop by and say hello to a few FGF members along the way. I have done the drive twice from NY.
