Not Sure if my first post posted. I just bought my first 1st Gen. I have always been into 3rd and 4th gens, but the wife wanted a "classic" So I found this one and just waiting to get it shipped down. I did get it for less than the asking and spoke with the owner that had it on consignment. I needed Factory A/C for down here in Louisiana. I think the color combo on this is pretty slick. What you guys think? I bought it from Volo auto museum http://www.volocars.com/1967-pontiac-firebird-400-c-4782.htm#sthash.dykf7tfS.Br8thj9n.dpbs

Very presentable. A bunch of small items to bringer her closer to 'correct', but a good buy in the low 20's.
You need to verify numbers and the data tag to confirm authenticity. The data tag needs to have the 3f stamped on there, or it is not an original 400 car.
Black may be a bit warm under that southern sun?
Looks nice!

Thanks fore the response.
My goal for the car is to keep it VERY original besides a couple of updates. I am going to put hidden MSD ignition,17x8 Rally II wheels, and make sure the cooling is up to par. I really dont want to change the radiator, but may if it runs to hot down here with the A/C on.
What items did you see that need to be changed to make it more "correct?"

I'd keep the 15 inchers that are on there. But that's just me.

Nice car! I blew up one of the engine bay photos from Volo's site and there is a "3F" on the data plate. Blurry at an expansion amount that I can read - but there.
I was also about to throw a Yellow Card on the air cleaner and then started looking for other CA smog tell tails. Gentlemen - is that an empty smog pump bracket inboard from the A/C compressor?

OK, I stared at the '67 Factory Service manual for a while and I am pretty sure that's a smog pump base bracket bolted to the front of the RH head.
That's would make this a roughly 1 of 1500 or so 400 model built for California.
I also noted the empty holes for a console clock. Other items after a quick pass through the photos are the trunk being way too light a shade of gray splatter, aftermarket exhaust w/o a cross over, and the aftermarket power antenna.
Nicely optioned.
What's that small metal can mounted in the lower middle of the LH inner fender in the engine bay?

At a quick glance, trunk spatter to light as mentioned, lug nuts should have black center color, and center caps should be black w/ red lettering- yours are reversed. Looks like a nice car- Volo is not that far from a couple of us on here. Welcome aboard!

Interesting on the Smog system. Im guessing air cleaners are different? Correct. Instead of the pancake style with louvers, it was as you see on your car, "regular" snorkel base with a chrome top similar to what was on the '68 Firebird 400's

It is a nice, well optioned car. From what is shown in the pictures, the A/C is not working. Picture 50 shows that the lower connection to the A/C muffler does not have a hose on it. The system is open to the air and does not have any refrigerant in it. Hopefully they finished the A/C work after taking that picture. Pete '67 400 coupe

After getting the protecoplate it was sold new in Palo Alto California So yes verified California car. To my somewhat disappointment it was originally turquoise with a white vinyl top. Few kinks to work out needs a complete brake job and thinking about ditching the stock 4 piston calipers since upon inspection looked to be seeping a little

My WW fluid pump is part of the wiper motor assembly. My car was originally sold across the bay in Oakland. Man, if there was any way to return it to that color combination... Ditch the 4 pistons for use on the road, OK. BUT keep them for prosperity. Like how my original 400 engine is sitting untouched on a stand in the garage. Many have found that sleeving those pistons makes them OK to live with (notorious for leaks).

down the road when it needs a repaint I will go back to the original color, but the car is SOLID no rust and the paint looks like glass. I think it will be a Long while before I drop 10k on going back to original though
