I am getting close to complete on my 68 400 4 speed Nightshade Green Firebird. I have been following several others here and thought I would just do a quick update and hope for others to do the same.
I need to do: Remove door panels and adjust window's Hood insulation Trunk mat and spare tire and jack resto ( still need a inflation canister) Install counsel Install rear axel snubbers A major detail job with a buff and wax A few other small things but I am wide tracking! Gordy
Installed front fenders and started messing with the wiring on my 68. Hope to be up and running in 2 weeks. Still need all the door weatherstripping, headliner, seats recovered.
last touches to getting it to a driver status. It will be one year at the end of this month since I bought her. Seems every time I get it back on the road another issue pops up. Right now, trying to figure out why it burns through header gaskets. First time, the ones that came with Doug's headers, 2nd time, Felpro and this week, Copper gaskets going on. :-(
Up a running here with minimal interior and exterior parts on to just make it drivable. The exterior has been media blasted and primed for an eventual paint job. After paint, the entire interior and exterior trim go back in/on.

Finished installing the sail panels in my coupe over the weekend. Other than some minor tune up issues, she's 99.9% done! Finished painting the jack and tire iron on the Aleutian 'vert. Once I get those installed she's done for the year. Found a correct th400 for her last week. Plan to rebuild and install next spring. Just need that pesky tube and dip stick! Scarlet has been done for a few years now.

After six months of gathering parts to start on the body work on the 68 I finally got started on the. Teardown and started the body repair process. The person who had done the body work prior was not good at dent removal so he used a thick coat of bondo to cover it up and level it out. Once I got it down to bare metal I found small dents that should be easy to pull and skim coat. Going to look at color chips today
Well I have not worked on mine in a couple of years. Life has had other plans for me, hoping to get back on it this winter. When I started it I told everyone it was my 20 year project. For those of you that have not seen it I put a link to the thread.
Mine has always been a driver and keeping her going while locating parts is a full time fun job. I landed a spare OHC a little over a year ago and have been restoring parts to rebuild the spare motor and then install it to then rebuild the factory motor. Haven't had much luck finding good pistons.
Right now I am wanting to sell a motorcycle plus everything that goes with motorcycling as I am hanging up the bars. If I can raise enough funds I am striping the car and getting the body work done and painting it the factory Windward Blue.
Other than that I still have the mile long lost of things I am always fixing.
I'm confident I won't have it running this weekend for sure. Interior completely sandblasted ready for primer. New floor test fitted and ready to go in. Full firewall next. At least I've changed direction from disassemble to assembly. Maybe next summer.
Thanks to all who participate. I finally got the counsel in along with the clock. I had it rebuilt and did not go with a quartz movement. It has kept perfect time the last 24hrs. I plan to unplug the wire harness at the fuse block when not using the car for more then a few weeks. Today i am planning to go for a drive to Hugo MN for a hog roast & car show. Gordy
No, just good ol jugs of sand from sweden. Used to fill High Voltage cable splices. Had a lot left over from a project in NJ. Working great as sandblast media.
