My name if Bill Edmunds, I have not been on this site for awhile but many of you know me. I have owned a 67 Firebird, 400 automatic, since 1977. Drove it in High School, dated my wife in it, etc. I have been trying to finish a restoration for many years and right now it is in Conway Arkansas and I need to get it back to central Ohio. It is a long story as to how it got there but the person who has it is not answering my phone calls. If there is anyone who lives in that area and wouldn't mind checking on it, please let me know. I am confined to a wheelchair and do not have an enclosed trailer and both of those things make it difficult for me to go get it back. I just want to get this car done before I die and I used to think that was a reasonable thought. Now I am not so sure. Let me know what you all think, I trust your opinions.
Thanks, Bill Edmunds

I brought 2 cars, a truck, and a boat back to Canada from the US. I had some interesting things happen like getting the boat. Got a good old boy to pickup the boat ... yadayada ... and could not get a hold of him after he dropped it at his house. No communicado ... no return calls for 3 weeks. I liked the guy and figured something went wrong outside his control. I contacted the local Police and to my amazement they were happy to investigate. Turned out the truck he had got repo'd and he took it out on the loner dude and then they tossed him into jail. His girl friend contacted me and gave possession to another guy I found to finish transporting it to Montana. One of the drivers recommended a very safe spot to park everything before I cam down from Canada. Almost died laughing when arrived, he parked the cars etc. at an old gas station right at the front of the miss sil baaassse (purposely misspelled). lol
Worked out fine in the end. Don't let immobility slow you down. I've got Parkinson's and I have a hell of temper and very impulsive and very intimidating. I don't look for fights ... but do enjoy finishing them.
I would consider contacting the Police now. Call it a "shot across the bow" warning.
Good luck!

Good story. Trust me, my disability has never slowed me down or I wouldn't have done the things that I have done in my lifetime. I simply don't have an enclosed trailer to go pick my stuff up. Guess I'm the guy who is always trusting people, even after being shot and paralyzed by someone. But, enough is enough and I want to get my car back so that I can finish it up. Thanks for the advice.

Bill,
Did something go wrong with his business? Not sure what advice to offer, I do think a call to the authorities might help, but which ones? Local cops or state? A lot of that would depend on his connections. I've got an acquaintance dealing with issues with a neighbor because the neighbor's sister is the town's assistant police chief and shields him from the consequences of his actions. They are trying to work through state authorities because of it, which is still proving difficult.

What's his name? Business name? What else do you know about him? Telephone number? How long has he had the car? What has he told you last time you two spoke? When was last time you spoke?
Some of you know what I do....perhaps I can lend a hand.
I'd be happy to get the car for you if it needs to be gotten. I have a few very influential friends in the law enforcement community down there.

If anybody could get it done, it would be you. I have received significant help from Bill over the years and did look up the location being 1 state over. But it would be a haul for me based on how the major highways run and my work schedule is pretty heavy right now. I am searching for Bill's website, but I have his business card at home if the phone number would help.

PM me if you need his phone number. I've been to Bill's a couple times when I lived in Cincy. I know where he'll take the car when he gets it back, I regret not pushing him in that direction 3 years ago.

In a similiar case locally (with a bad outcome) I asked my son the lawyer what should have been done:
He said "CALL THE COPS."
But I said maybe there was a problem; He said "CALL THE COPS."
To add a little advice on doing business in the rural south - "CALL THE COPS."

Just heard today that FirebirdBill has passed away. It has been 6 or so years since he and I have talked, but it was always an enjoyable experience. He was always of great assistance to me when I was going through my two Firebird restorations. I think he did get his car back but many of the parts were missing. Either his son or daughter will get the Firebird when it is finished and the other will get the Corvette.
May he rest in peace.

That is extremely sad news. I have many parts on my car that I acquired from Bill. My installation of a LH OEM traction bar on a '67 auto tranny car would have been impossible without his help.
Prayers to his family.
RIP, Bill.

Hi Everybody! This is Heather, Bill's daughter! I came across this thread and thought I'd chime in. Yes my father passed away in November and we are very sad but I know he no longer struggles with his health. We were able to get his Firebird back from Arkansas and that is a project my brother and I will take on in the next few years. Sadly not all the parts that he sent down with the car came back so we'll have to locate more parts. I am still running his Early Brds LLC business, so if you need anything let me know and I will help to the best of my ability. Bill had more knowledge than most about firebirds and I will never learn as much as he knew so we will be selling off most of the parts. (3 car garage and about a 3 car barn space) I will still be selling the manufactured seat extenders, alternator brackets, hood latch supports, cocktail shaker brackets, front nose shims, inner splash shield brackets, and more. Who knows anyone that is within driving distance to Columbus, Ohio, who would want a TON of parts for dirt cheap? Email me earlybrds@aol.com
