Hi everyone, I finally found a good car. 68 with 400 and th400

She is all original, ps,pb, ac

It has an open Carrier with 2.56, 😁

I would like some recommendations on which gear company I should go with, auburn eaton etc.

I'm thinking 3.36 for the auto.

Plans are to keep car all original but update the brakes, suspension and create a solid handling braking car I can drive whenever. Only has 68k original miles.

I really appreciate you're input

Auburn is fine for what you want.
Hope you have someone local that knows how to set up a rear.

The Eaton posi has advantage of being rebuilt easily. The 8.2 is stronger than people claim, can handle 450hp without breaking, would put stronger axles in IMHO.

I have an Auburn. All good.

Didn't know 3.36 was an option in the 8.2....? Thought it went from 3.28 to 3.55...

With that much power it'll be interesting to see how long that 8.2 will last, good luck.

I have a Lok-rite LSD and it's a little noisy, but it works well and doesn't have any friction discs. Best of all you don't have to remove the carrier to install it.
I also wanted to stay with a BOP diff and the Lok-rite fits the small carrier used with the 3.23 gear.
