Does anyone know of a company that makes a repair panel. I believe this might be a common problem as many dashes have been butchered over the years to accommodate aftermarket stereos.

Best bet is to find a donor car and graft it in the metal.
I did a similar thing last year with my 64 Tempest.

I have a complete metal dash face out of a 1967. The dash pad on the 67 does not wrap down the sides like yours does on the 1968. You can reach me at mgehrs1cm@gmail.com

Hello I have the dash metal your looking for. I removed it from a 68 convertible awhile back and its in my garage still couldn't scrap it since it was in great shape and not destroyed in any way. if your interested send me a message at justplayin13440@yahoo.com and I will get some pictures to you so you can decide . It is all original metal driver to passenger not sure if all 68 birds had the vents on each side but this one did. astro ventilation non ac car
Thanks Chuck
