I know i come and go from this forum. LOL

Anybody replace their deluxe door panels with Al Knock re-pops? They look great and are backed up on plastic, which to me is a good thing as apposed to cardboard. But they are about 1/8" thicker around the door emblem area where the birds mount. How did you get around the studs not coming all the way through the panel? The foam is much stiffer than stock so its almost impossible to compress.

Any suggestions?

Bob

I used Al's panels on three cars now. They fit and looked good. I punched door birds through panels and glued in place. Still look good three to four years later.

I used the emblem barrel nuts to hold them. The same as the glove box. Drilled holes in the panel, insert barrel nut and pushed in the emblem.

i would love to use the nuts , but the studs fail to protrude through the thicker panel. The Al Knock panels are much thicker than the originals. Mine is a Deluxe interior , not the standard flat panels. It came that way from the factory and i would like to keep the custom look. I was thinking about just gluing them on. I want to see if anybody solved it another way.

Same here. I have deluxe with al knoch The studs go in the barrels and get locked in. They don't have to pretrude.

You can get them from Napa. They look like this
