Hello everyone My 1968 Firebird convertible is in the process of being painted (a light blue) and the painter suggested painting the tail light panel black, any thoughts?
That rests on you and your resto. I think it looks tuff as nails but opinions can differ. If you want to play it safe you can always have the tail inset vinyl wrapped. The technology of wrapping today makes it precise so it won't look hacked up. If you don't like the look all you have to do is remove rear badges and vinyl.
Would not be stock, but other than that, do what pleases your taste. It would likely affect resale value unless you have a whole bunch of other mods already.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I like the look, did it to my '69 and glad that I did. I got mostly good comments, the only non-positive comments were that they never came from the factory that way. It's your bird, do what you like and have fun with it! (It's only paint)
