Two choices.

1) Remove the hood and passenger side fender.

2) Cut a large flap of metal out of the rear of the passenger side inner fender. There are old posts here with photos. The advantage here is that you can make is so the flap closes again in case you have to pull the motor out again in the future.

Looks like you want to see Post # 123734, but I can't get the search to run back that far.

I would agree with Salmon. The previous owner of my car cut the inside wheel well.

Here is a link to the old thread Salmon mentioned: https://firstgenfirebird.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=123734

I went thru this not long ago.... it wasn't the end of the world taking the fender off... I ended up replacing the inner fender well while I was at it..... I'm not sure if I had it to do over id do it like that though... I would cut the access door into the fender well and just tar back over it after.....

I thought somebody installed a hinge. Others just cut 3 sides of a rectangle or square and then bent the sheet metal out and then back again. It's been a long time since I saw the photos.

For testing, just connect the single terminal to a 12 V power source and clip a wire from a negative source to the outer flange to ground the housing.
