Uh oh. Putting the power top up the other day, and could hear a leak.
Found it - I'm guessing there's a seal around the piston, and the fluid seems to be coming out of it.

Any suggestions on how to repair this? Also, any thoughts on how to drain the system without getting fluid everywhere (or is that not necessary?

Here's a bad picture from the top.

Time for a couple of new pistons...

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

Mine was leaking so I replaced the O-rings six years ago and so far so good.

Although the good description of the repair by 1st Gen member hokie1984 appears to be gone now, here's where I discussed using his process: https://firstgenfirebird.org/forums/ubbth...true#Post194166

I had more trouble getting the bolts out than I did replacing the o-ring.

Great thread - thank you for that.

It seems like every summer when I get the beast out, there's a new surprise waiting for me - something that needs repair!

Six years on my new O-Rings and zero leakage. Also one shaft was pretty scorn so I had to spend a lot of time with some Emory cloth. Trust me if I could get that one to seal, you shouldn't have any issues on yours. Real easy job. Also see my description on how to remove the rams, twisting action was the key for me.

Here's my original posting. This was before I figured out how to post photos, sorry.
