So I am close to getting my front and rear glass installed and wanted something different looking. Probably the thing leading me most was that I am de-chroming most of the car. So I got an idea about how it would look if the trim looked like brushed aluminum. so I looked online and could find really nothing on how to do this sooooo... I got out some 220 grit sandpaper but it did nothing but make it look worse due to the stainless is really hard metal. I ended up using 60 grit to really get down to it. To me this is a project of no return so I jumped in both feet.
I tried just sanding the trim by hand but hands don't move in straight lines and it had swirls so I made a small jig out of scrap that I could hold in my hand. I put the trim in the jig with sandpaper on top. Moved the trim forward and back and it creates the straight lines I wanted that make it look like brushed metal.

here is what I ended up with. I am pretty happy at the outcome. I put a shot of clear spray lacquer on it to keep dirt out of the grooves.

having issues getting the pics to show up and looking through the helps I can't figure out why they only show the url but the pic doesn't pop in its place.

I just added them using the attachment manager at the bottom of the advance editor.

To get a brushed finish the chrome shop will prep the part, do the copper , nickel and bead shot it the chrome over it. There is also a process that anodize the aluminum to give the dull finish.

Hat you have done looks good.

Hey thanks for that Harold. I will look into the advanced editor section for the attachment manager.
