Hi all,

I was in the process of replacing my points/condenser setup, and I got the wiring mixed up within my distributor.

Essentially, there is a short wire inside the distributor which I disconnected and I'm not quite sure how to wire it back up.

Here's an image, with my question annotated:

[Linked Image]

Is the wiring correct as it is, or do I have it done wrong? If it is wrong, can you please correct me, referring to each point as A, B, C, or D, as identified in the picture?

This is a Pontiac 400, non-HEI, in a 1968 Firebird.

Thanks,

Alex

Ahs, The small wire, b to c is a breaker plate ground. Wire d should be the one to the coil. Check the point wire d, to see that it wont bind when the plate advances. You may want to move the ground wire to the hole closer to the vac adv.

Great, so both wires are connected to the correct positions, right? I will make sure there is no binding going on.

When you suggest moving the breaker plate ground wire to hole closer to the vac adv, which position should be moved? B or C? Is only one end moved? Or both?

And sorry, yes, point D goes to the IGNITION coil not the distributor smile

Position b, just so that its slack allows it to move as freely as possible. Also I have found that using a dwell meter is easier and more accurate than a feeler gauge. I love how the stock delco dis allows you to set it while its running.
