I can't believe it but I landed a great condition HO 4sp Carburetor. As it didnt cost a fortune, I am looking for somewhere good and reasonably priced to rebuild and restore it. Where should I go?
Restored by me. Not a professional. Restaurant worker by trade. YouTube forums and some trial and error built this beauty. Sheet metal replacement. Body work. Paint. Rear gears. Interior. And engine. ALL ME. Toot toot

I have used both Cliff's and Quadrajet Power LLC and have been satisfied with the results.

I take all my Rochester carburetors to Cliffs. Excellent work... Cliff is obviously one of the best, since he wrote the book. But, I've heard that he has a waiting list of maybe 6 months or more. So, what was the wait time on your builds, and how long ago were they ? According to what I've read, SMI prices are quite a bit cheaper. I've read good reviews of their work, on another Pontiac forum. Not putting Cliff down in any way. Just mentioning another option.

My wait for a Ram Air II auto carb from Cliff was about 4 weeks. It really depends on when you need them. I think his backlog is highest right before spring/summer when people start heading to the tracks. But that is a guess.

Five years ago he had a six month wait. He rebuilt a carb for me about 9 months ago and I had it back within 30 days.

Quadrajet Power and SMI both have price listings for various levels of work. If you are wanting a show quality restoration, around $500 I think.

what kind of cost should i budget for? The prices are listed for SMI rebuilds, on the link I already posted. http://www.smicarburetor.com/products/sfID1/85/sfID2/86/sfID3/9To that, you'll have to add shipping, both ways, for your core. Might also wanna upgrade to an electric choke. Might wanna give 'em a call. Sometimes you can tell if you wanna do business with somebody, by discussing your needs with them.

Sorry, just read this email. I agree with the others, probably around $500.
