New here, hey everyone. I have a 68 convertible with a Pontiac 350 and th350 automatic transmission. I have access to a 1970 ram air III from a GTO bored 40 over. Would I get my hand slapped for putting this in my car? Would you keep the th350 or go 400 on transmissions? Thanks for your thoughts.

No, if the 350 is original, I'd wrap it up and keep it in a safe place. If not original, sell it.

The th400 would be a better trans behind the R/A III. Wrap it up and keep if original to the car.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe.

I’ve got a 65 389 in my bird. The only thing that would get your hand slapped here is if you transplant a small block Chevy. Actually, our philosophy here is pretty much that it’s your car, do what makes you happy

Small world Bob, the first engine swaped into my bird was a '65 389 from a GTO in 1976. When the 389 came out I gave it to a friend not knowing that I would end up owning that same GTO in the 80s. (The red one pictured in an earlier post.) The friend I gave it to recently past away and that ol' 389 has now returned to me. I'm sure he'd want me to find a good home for it, but the way it's followed me around I'm not sure I could let it go.
It sure ran great in my bird!
The 389s are great engines. laugh

A guy I run into at the cruise ins has a 65 goat automatic with a 70's 350. I promised him the motor when I get rid of it. Its a 65 YS motor, which is what came in a 65 goat auto.

I bought it done like that. I always wanted a Tripower so I decided to put on my 65 Catalina. Got a guy that does TripPower setups from scratch. Completely stock and tuned for my specific car.

Mike Wasson from pontiactripower.com did it for me. These guys really know there stuff.

I'd do it in a heart beat! (that means without hesitation)

If you need a built TH400, drop me a note.
