Hi I have recently replaced the sbc in my 67 with a Pontiac 400. I fitted Headman header but the pitman arm hit the headers, it was a straight pitman arm so I changed it for a curved one. That solved the problem for the exhaust but now the inner tie rod end on the passenger side hits the oil pan on full lock, no problem on the drivers side but the passenger side is stopping full lock by probably a good inch. Not sure I have made this very clear but any help would be appreciated. I may have more clearance if I fit the tie rod to the front side of the centre link, is this possible ? Thanks Mark.

Never heard of that before. I am wondering if you have the wrong oil pan on your motor. Can you get a photo?

Are you sure the steering linkage is for a Pontiac, if the engine bay was previously occupied by a SBC, maybe the linkage is all Chevy...Don't know if there is any difference though.

Thanks for the reply, I think the oil pan may be wider than standard, should the inner tie rod ends pass in front of the oil pan ? I will try and take some pictures later I have one that shows the engine going in I will see if I can post it

So I managed to move the center link over by shortening the passenger side tie rod and extending the drivers side. It moved the tie rod end away from the oil pan so I now have full lock on both wheels. I have had to put a bit of a dint in the exhaust as the new adjustments caused the pitman arm to just hit the header tube on full lock. My only worry is that I have not a lot of thread left on the passenger tie rod for final alignment and the that my tie rods are now different lengths will this matter?

Looks like you have a Milodon deep sump oil pan and Hotchkis front end parts. Every time I've put anything aftermarket on my Firebird there has been a fitment and/or operational issue. Most of the front end stuff is made for Camaros and listed for Firebird. One size fits none.

Seems like every time I put anything that fits a Firebird but also a Camaro, something is wrong with it, latest being the hood hinges that are supposed to fit Chevy/Pontiac!!
