I have heard that aftermarket aluminum valley pans[butler perf.] need a special type of sealer in order for the aluminum to seal right. If I use THE RIGHT STUFF from permatex,do you use a gasket or just the sealer, and if there is no clearance problems should i just use my o.e.m. pan.
The say to just use Permatex, no gasket as the pan is flatter than the valley, and as you bolt it down, it sucks the pan down to conform to the curve of the valley. Doing this would not accomodate a gasket very well?
I think I'll have to either reseal mine or I may just go back to stock. Not sure of that is one of my leaks or? Also, something to consider is making sure you have proper PCV ventalation. I had some problems early on, and it forced oil out even the dipstick tube at higher RMPS/Speeds...
One more thing, you might look into something loke Zoop Aluminum Polish/Sealer? After mine being on for about 4 years, I want to take it off if for nothing else, but just to clean it and polish it up again!
