Installing a 700R4 in my 69 Firebird. Fits no problem. Hooking up the TV cable, big problem! The 69 style throttle cable doesn't have a square plug on its end, and the retro brackets to hook up the TV cable all use connections for 2 square end cables.
Has anyone figured out how to hook a TV cable up while using the factory 1969 throttle bracket/cable?
Or can someone shoot a picture of how they have theirs set up, please? I can't figure out even with aftermarket brackets how it could work as the factory throttle cable has to connect as they do on 1969 cables. I can't seem to find a 1969 factory bracket for a 350 transmission, that might work.
I used a Holley 95-20 bracket, same as the two square hole bracket you described. Instead of the cable I used the rod style linkage typically used on Chevy's. I cut the top square hole off the bracket just to clean it up. Trouble is, now that Dynamat, Dynaliner and carpet are installed I don't believe I'm achieving full throttle. There is little latitude to gain more travel with the rod set-up. If I can not solve, I was thinking of exploring the cable option.
I don't know if there is bracket commercially available for the original cable. It's been a long time but I believe the original Firebird cable uses a round hole instead of a square. It may be simple enough to cut the upper square hole off the 95-20 bracket and weld on the end from a round hole bracket in it's place?

I works with all carbs except for the Qjet. I have spent many hours looking for something that works with our year Qjets and there just isn't anything really out there. All the makers are putting out stuff for all the other aftermarket carbs,
If I recall correctly those won't work with our qjets that are numbers matching carbs for our first gen fb because of the throttle arm doesn't have the correct places to bolt /screw on the throttle adapter. Please let me know if I am wrong but iirc back when I was looking for the same thing several years ago this is the answer I received from them.
