Hi all...... my car is a 1969 Pontiac Firebird with a Pontiac 400 and a TH 400 ( once I get one ) I would like to put a camaro horseshoe style shifter in my 69 Firebird........ has any one tried this.....?? Will it fit in the Pontiac center console......?? What all is involved...? Can I just swap the bird shifter with the camaro shifter and trim plate.......?? Thank you all in advance
'Maro and pontiac shifters are completely different. Consoles are different as well.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Would think Camaro parts would be a closer fit to your floor pan than Chevelle stuff since the floors are the same. Placement of cable operated shifters are driven by console placement. Would think console and shifter mockup would be fairly easy once you have all the parts. Check out Shifterworks web site for good pics of Camaro stuff.
Any body know what difference between camaro and Chevelle horseshoe shifter is....?? ( I think the mounting bracket is different but handle and gate are same....?? Not 100% though ) I have a 69 Chevelle shifter..... gonna try to mock it up with the firebird console........ any input would be appreciated...... Thank you
