I just did front suspension work, all new bushings, ball joints, springs, ect.

The springs are the stock springs for a 400 which I have, its a good 3 1/2 inches too high even if it settles I cant see more than an inch. They make a spring 2 inches shorter. The old springs were old and worn out and has spacers but the ride height was perfect. I am thinking of installing the shorter springs. I hate the ride height and don't want to wait for 1000 miles for it to come down an inch.

Any advice?

Had the same issue. I removed the springs and cut off a portion of the coil. You get about a 1 to 2 change, meaning 1” of coil height removes 2” of tide height, so be careful.

3 1/2 inches seems way high, and you'll probably see 1/2" settlement after a couple of years. I went through springs a few years back and never found them to be too high, always too low for my taste. Make sure they are rotated correctly and your A-arm bushings aren't keeping them from going down, they might be too tight, push down on the front bumper to make sure.

Like Ramair was trying to say, you need to tighten the control arm bushings with the weight on them or the rubber twist when the load is put on and help the springs

Bought mine from Eaton and they made it sit up like a 4×4. Had to cut a coil off and it still needs to come down a little more. Everyone i showed this picture to thought either the motor was out or it had stands under it but the engine and trans was in it and nothing under it raising it up.

I have the "400" convertible Eaton springs, 2 fingers clearance between my 15" tires and the fender...

So I wondering about Eaton. What is stock, lower, higher... what did you order exactly?

Eaton only offers stock height for the front, and up to 2" higher in the rear.

Just go to their website and look at the options. When i bought mine it gave me the option to go with stock height or up to 2 inches above or below stock. It'll ask you engine size, auto or manual trans, a/c or non a/c . I spoke with mr. Eaton when i placed my order and told him all my info.

Interesting, that’s about the heaviest front end out there. I somewhat expected a ride height problem in my Sprint.

so i switched the spring to 2" lower, which they make for the pontiac 400. much better. will settle a half inch and will be perfect. I am happy.
