Looking at this Bird for a while now. Seems like it sits with them for quite a good time. This in mind it should be a kind of sign that something might be not that good as it looks?! What do you think? Of course - colour and stuff is in the eye of the beholder - but in general I'm quite interested in it. I thought it might be a good idea to get some more opinions from you experienced people - you sure do see way more than I do. There are some small rusty hints shining through this grey primer in the engine bay or in the trunk. Might this be a sign for way more somewhere else? I asked the seller for some more underside and especially trunk pictures with that trunk mat removed...no reply yet...
'67 model year did not offer a 350, so they are either wrong, or not the original engine. There are enough little to mid issues that I think it it overpriced by about $8k. There are nicer ones out there in that price range.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I agree with 68 topless and this would be a hard pass for me. From what I can see of the paint it was a paint to sell job. when you see fairly fresh paint with bubbles and dents that were painted over run because that's just the tip of the iceberg. Also you can tell by the verbiage they don't know what they are talking about and are then using cya to cover themselves. There is either no door gasket on the drivers door or it is painted body color, the steering wheel cover is almost assuredly hiding a badly cracked rim, different tires front and rear wrong era center caps on the rims And that motor looks like a small block Chevy to me. This car gives off all the signals of a flipper doing a rush to sell resto.
Ditto above, plus: Vibration dampeners/cocktail shakers missing, dents in inner left door and glove box door, top not retracting into the well, original color code D – Montreux Blue see below (zoomed in on tag), don't know where the white in trunk and engine compartment came from, interesting alternator location. (Not mentioning all all the aftermarket parts deviating from original.)
[censored] Jim I forgot about the shakers and was going to mention if the rears are missing the fronts are probably missing to. Small block Chevy's mount the Alternator on the passenger side as well as the starter. And also forgot about the goobered patch on the passenger side of the frame like we said, run don't walk away.
THAT is exactly why I did ask my questions here! Thanks so much to you all. As I am just a beginner with the beautiful Firebird I really appreciate all your opinions and help. You definitely see way more than I do!
Here I got it - almost set a new world record in running (away) from it now
Did I get it right - only the '67 models do have these cocktail shakers?
I wouldn't care whether there's a replacement engine with the car, even if it's not the cui size it once rolled off the assembly line. I'm not into matching numbers, I just want one nice Bird to drive and to enjoy (with some power of course). But parts and especially engine should be time correct and definitely be Pontiac parts / engine.
@68tpls400 whenever you find one of those "nicer ones" out there -> please let me know
