I'm in the process of upgrading my brake lines to SS and was having a hell of a time trying to find the (5) small brake lines coming off the MC. Well, after spending countless hours trying to find who made my lines in SS for my 67, I come to find out that the previous owner installed a setup from a 70 camaro!!! The one set up that was deemed the rats nest because it incorporated the hold off valve, proportioning valve and the distribution valve .
So, I ordered a new correct MC for my 67 (actually 68 since I can't find a reproduction 67 with the stamp and bleeder valve), new distribution valve, and a 5 piece line set ( the (3) for the MC and the (2) lines that run to the caliber hoses). The 5 piece was a kit: however, when the company I ordered from sent me the brake lines, they sent the brake lines from (2) separate individual kits. As you can see from the attached photos, brake line version one was supposed to come in the (5) piece kit: however, they sent me brake line version 2. As you can see one brake line is completely different. Version 1, the line would run behind the hold off valve, while version 2 snakes it's way in front of the hold off valve. As you can see in the attached photo for the brake booster, every website is showing the brake line runs behind the hold off valve.
Can someone post a photo of the correct setup for a 67/68 with power front disc and drum rear.
Oh and I found out after ordering all then parts, that the hold off valve from the 70 camaro uses a 5/16" fitting instead of the 7/16" fFirebird uses. Now I have to order a new hold off valve. If I would have know all this was going to be an issue I would've just ordered a whole new assembly and spent the extra $200 dollars. I'm not really saving the budget by using the original brake booster and hold off valve because I have to spend more to buy separate because of shipping multiple orders....
I don't have an answer per se' but I can tell you what I ended up doing, my 67 was factory drums, I went to SSBC front disc kit that fits the stock spindle and line set, I went with the Booster and MC from Ames and then to get the right proportioning valve that mounts correctly to the factory mount and lines up with the lines I got the Classic Performance proportioning valve that is pretuned for f disc R drums. The only pain to the whole thing besides figuring out what manufacturer had the most correct parts was the line from the PV to the pass side front, it's set up at the factory to be installed before the engine is installed. Not Classic Industries or other names, Classic Performance.
