Hello fellow 'Bird lovers. So I recently had my motor fully broken down and rebuilt with a new cam, pistons, rings, etc. Unfortunatly there is a lod metal on metal noice coming from the passenter side valve cover area so I need to remove the passenger side valve cover and I am having a heck of a time getting at the bolt closest to the firewall on the fender side (towards the side of the car not the car side) because the A/C makes it too tight to get an 90 degree swivel socket onto a socket. I am able to put the 7/16 socket on the bolt but the clearance is so tight I cannot get the ratchet head locked into the socket. The A/C unit makes it into a 90degree vertical approach but I cannot even use an extension with the 90degree swivel either. I have also tried box wrenches as well. I can get one on but the side-to-side clearance is so narrow that I cannot get any torque on the wrench to break the bolt free.
Any trick that anyone knows would be very helpful!
I went through this as well several years ago. The other thread that you posted in has good advice about trying different combinations of sockets, extensions and wobble adapters. I may have even used pliers to grip and rotate the end of an extension, I don't remember. You might also try a flexible extension like one of these:
