Switching out a factory auto trans for an era correct 4-speed Muncie m20 (3.08 rear gears). Car is not numbers matching when I acquired her .... but everything is 1st gen on her. Engine is '68 400. She is SCREAMING for a Muncie 4-speed ....
My question I am hoping for guidance on:
When I pull out the brake pedal (automatic) and replace with clutch/brake pedal (manual), can I just pull the clevis pin from existing '67 assembly and switch out the pedals (Ames #FR172 pedal assembly, MT) or do I need to replace the actual pedal carrier assembly also ?
Everything I see is that I pull the pin, replace the pedals, and good to go with hooking up the needed clutch linkage. Seems a bit too easy ?
Pull the pin and swap out the pedals is all you need to do and make sure you put the clevis for the brakes in the lower hole if its power brakes and upper hole if manual brakes. Don't forget to adjust the brake light switch as needed. Hopefully they give you new plastic bushings with the pedals, the original ones fall apart most of the time when you pull the assembly apart.
