AC was pretty rare in these cars. I am sure someone would want the parts. The firewall box and under dash parts, controls,wiring, are all rare too.
Many moons go when the AC would not work, I would yank it all out and trash it. Then when I learned how to diagnose and service AC, I started fixing my systems and enjoying the comfort in Summertime. I even began adding it to my non-AC cars. Too bad you are a continent away, I would come and get all that stuff.
See that? I told ya so. I'm on the wrong coast! Also, it is not hard to switch from R12 to R134a or a substitute like Enviro-safe. My 1983 Pontiac wagon is using the Enviro-safe and I didn't even need to change the mineral oil because it is compatible.
