I am replacing the 14" stock wheels (and very old tires) on my 67' 400/4-speed Convertible.
Seeking advice in three areas:
1. For brakes, I'll probably stick with my stock drum brakes vs. upgrading to disc brakes. Assume offset is 0 and back spacing is 4"? The actual offsets and back spacing disclosures are a bit confusing. Is the disc brake conversion worth it for a weekend driver?
2. For wheels, I like Wheel Vintique's 60 Series Rallye II wheels, but not sure if 15x8 or 15x7 wheel size is best for my application? Will consider lower cost alternatives if you have suggestions as WV has significantly increased its pricing, requires expensive caps, etc.
3. For tires, plan to go conservative with BFGs (225/60/R15 on front and 235/60/R15 on back) to mitigate well rubbing. I've had a good experience with these tires and the sizes on my stock 68' Firebird Coupe.
Thanks in advance for any expert guidance here.

Front disk brakes are always worth it if you want to know that your car will be pointing straight ahead when you have to make a panic stop.

Go 15x7 wheels and 215-65-15 tires all around.

Thanks Bob. Do you have strong opinion on the tradeoffs 65 vs. 60?:
225/60/R15 - sidewall height of 65 /146.5 aspect ratio (83.5" circumference) 225 /65/R15 - sidewall height of 60 /135 aspect ratio (80.5" circumference)
I want to get to lower the height of car a bit and squeeze in a meatier tire (which I was able to do on my 68').
Full disclosure that I am going into the 14x7 to 15x7 wheel upgrade to simplify finding tires to fit longer term.
Thanks.

Not sure what all your numbers are. And did you mean 215-65-15? 65vs 60 aspect ratio makes the tire taller. You can find a tire calculator and determine the tire diameter which is the most important number then you want something that won’t rub. 215-65-15 is the largest tire that won’t rub in the front of a FGF. Although I had rubbing issues with a passenger running over speed bumps so I put those on my goat and went with 215-70-14s on my bird which have been perfect. My buddy has run 215-65-15 on his bird with no issues. I think hi front end sits a little higher than mine.
