I have a '67 OHC 6 Sprint car with the 3 speed on the floor- everything checks out as correct from the body tag, but the shifter is REALLY difficult/crappy. Mine has "Fenton" stamped on the side- does anyone know what they came with from the factory? . Not sure if that is original. Its a 4th week of February baby. Thanks

I never saw a manual OHC-6 so I am unsure what the shifter was. But I had a 1967 400 Firebird, three speed manual. It was a Borg-Warner T-16 three speed. The shifter was actually bolted to the cross member. A stabilizing rod was bolted from the shifter to the trans. It was unbelievably sloppy. The trans was so unbreakable I used it whenever I needed a replacement for a four speed. But I used a GM ITM trans mounted shifter that came on my 1980 Malibu wagon. When I sold that trans I included both shifters. You can see the special shifter mount bolted to the tail housing. That made the shifter fit the 1978-87 GM A/G-body cars.I believe the 1967 Camaro three speed used the same sloppy set up the Firebird used. I am sure you could get a Hurst three speed shifter to work better. It may or may not fit the console if you have one.

Rocky Rotella's "The Definitive Firebird & Trans Am Guide 1967-1969" mentions that the 6's 3 speed manual with floor shift was a Saginaw M12 with an Inland Tool Manufacturing (ITM) shifter with no markings on the "flat-stock" "chrome-plated" handle.

That is too funny. My 1981 Malibu wagon came with a Chevy V-6, a Saginaw three speed trans, and that ITM shifter that I posted a pic of. 14 years later, same set up. Progress!

Here is a Hurst 3 speed shifter for the Saginaw. It uses the Hurst generic mount. You can tell by the 'U' bolt at the tail.Pretty good price. HURST 3 speed shifter

The big goofy selector arm is for the back-drive linkage. You lock it in reverse I believe. Easily cut down if not wanted.
