Both NAPA and Rock Auto show a 1/8" thick valve cover gasket for 1968 4BBL w/o Ram Air and a 1/4" with RA. Anyone know why the difference?
Edit: The 1972 parts book doesn't show the difference for 1968s. In 1969 they add a different gasket for RAIV.

Regardless i would go with the thicker ones. These cork gaskets shrink over time and leak. Make sure the valve covers are flat so it seals completely around.

Thanks. Are the factory original bolts long enough to have sufficient thread after losing an extra 1/8?

I always use a flat washer too so that adds to the thickness.
