Dan Jensen in Portland Mi 517-647-2474 Professional engine service and rebuilding I plan on having him build a motor for me next year there's factory stock drags in stanton in sept.Every year I would like to race in.
Looking for an info someone can provide on rebuilding my 1969 OHC In-line 6 ? I tried to find rings, pistons, etc a few years back to no avail ... any help with parts or ideas of someone around the DC or NC area who may be abel to assist would be great.
Not many people rebuild these so parts are very hard to find in my experience...
Find the OHC web site, and read as many of the threads as you can in the "Engine" and "Performance" sections. One of the companies that has almost everything is "Kanter."
Also, Chevy 307 pistons are almost a drop-in replacement, but new valve relifs have to be machined in.
Great Carb guy is doing Q-Jets. He can even straighten the top plate (No.1 hidden problem)He does great work as I have had two carbs that ran perfect from 1st bolt on. He does stock and custom setups. Prices are very good. Only does q-Jets and specializes in Pontiac setups.
I'm looking for someone in Maryland for valve job/top end service on my OHC-6. PMI gave me name of someone in VA but it's a 3 hour drive one way and I don't want to do it if I don't HAVE to!!! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I had a good builder in San Diego 20+ years ago, he was an aircraft mechanic by day. Now, I’m afraid you are going to have to come to Phoenix.
The guy I have been using these last years does excellent work and is a Pontiac enthusiast. Call Mike at 480 242-7899.
I had a horrible experience with a local reputable shop and since have talked with so many people about how bad engine shops are with vintage engines. It seems impossible to find a good one. So I am very happy I found Mike through our local firstgen club.
He is building a set of 061 heads for me, and I will be having him build a motor soon(long story). Very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Fabricates some unique parts that he sells on his site. Not far enough along to offer any substantial review yet though.

Or just bud's of "Hooter" lol.

Can anyone recommend a good shop in/around the Houston, TX area?
In some of the reading I've been doing, it seems that one should try and seek out a shop that has Pontiac-specific experience. How critical is this if one is having an original engine built mostly stock? I'd like to do some upgrades, but not building a performance racing engine.
Can't speak from personal experience but Westside Performance has been recommended to me in the past in the Houston area.

Contact Butler performance. I bought all my parts from them for 2 engines. Excellent quality and they can help you get the correct configuration based on your requirements.
I live just north of Tampa, FL. A few years ago I was introduced to Ken Keefer in Brooksville, FL. I was wanting him to rebuild my motor for me but it appears he has closed shop. I drove by his shop today and it has been renamed KDK Auto (Ken D. Keefer maybe?). I have emailed the new shop name to see if he is still active with them but who knows?
Just in case, does anyone know of a reputable engine builder / machine shop in the Tampa Bay area?
Google found me a place called "United Speed World" in Tampa. I'll drop by there tomorrow to ask a million questions; first and foremost: How much do you know about Pontiac engines?
