I realize everyone hates the poverty caps but I'm restoring my 69 back to original (as humanly possible) and was wondering what is the appearance difference between the custom and deluxe covers?
By the way, I do have a set of Rally II's when I want to change the look up a bit. So all is not lost.
I'm about 15 minutes north of Flint. I have also seen other pictures of "deluxe" caps that had multiple small rectangular vents along the outside similar to the picture for the 71 that you show.
I'm about 10 miles east of I-75 exit 81. A group of about 10 local FGFs get together for cruises and shows, if you want to join us just PM me in the spring for a schedule.
http://tinyurl.com/9vney for photos of '69 caps. The code on the window sticker or billing history will show which was correct for your car.

Thanks, this helps quite a bit. I'm far from ready for a show, but wouldn't mind viewing what else is out there though. I'll have to get a schedule in the spring from you. Thanks again.
They looked a heck of a lot better than the factory configuration, and got a lot of positive comments at shows.
Here's a picture of one of them, showing better detail to the change I made with the center's color. The factory paint had gone to heck, and the pmd lettering was black. I scraped off the paint from behind, and on the back, painted the lettering white to match the white-out on the emblems. One fell off while driving down the roat, and when I could never find it, so I'm sitting on 3 caps.
As you can see, the car had a decent stance with the caps. If you go to ashtray's post in rambling and chatting on 9/6, you can see the car with rally II's.
The whole additude of the car has changed. I never really was that wild about rally's. After I put the rally's on, however, they grew on me, probally because that's what's supposed to be on the car. I'm not interested in origional in any aspect, but I do like the car "looking" as if it's supposed to be on the car.
