I will probably be replacing my 68 rear bumper. How good are the repros? Are they as heavy and as thick as the original stock? My other option is to have mine straightened and rechromed at a cost of $300 to $850. Thanks. Bob bestnubians@webtv.net
I had my old bumpers straightened and rechromed for $180.00 ea, - cost a little more than the repro's(rear) , but like doug said real steel- better looking results.
Best bumper - wilmer tx. will get you their number if your interested.
I saw repro bumpers sold at Carlisle last year. The tooling marks from folding around the license plate area were quite visible through the chrome. Quality varies, so there may be some that look okay. If you buy a repro, it's best to inspect it first hand.
Due to your unanimous response, I'm going to have my original bumper redone. I'd be interested to know who is good and who to avoid. I'm in the Memphis, TN area and have received quotes of $300 to $850 for minor straightening and rechroming. Bob
