I just removed the two old chrome moldings on my 68 vert that go on top of the windshield, and I purchased two replacement moldings (GM approved ha ha)
Does anyone have any helpful hints on how to get the new ones on without a large hammer.
If they are the same ones that I sent back, make sure you are real careful with that "brushed chrome" surface. It is not robust like the originals for '68-'69s and will scratch off easily. When I saw them, I figured I was better off not replacing mine.
I have never seen a pair of NOS for sale but I may have missed them on EBay. When I was disappointed in the repro pair I purchased and returned a couple years ago, I did some research and found that they are made by one source, Classic Headquarters (CHQ). I talked with the owner of CHQ back then and had hoped that they might improve the coating/dulling process. (We did not talk about fit since I had not gotten to that point.) If you would like to call him, he also owned Rick's 1st Generation Camaro parts.
yeah I just replaced mine a little bending and some elbow grease is all I can tell you I got mine on and sitting nice but the passenger side holes ontop never lined up so Im still not sure what Im gonna do about that....

Dave, don't give up the hunt quite yet for originals. I found a set at a swap meet last year (Ames Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk Ohio) for $30.
They were in very good condition. They do have the later style full gray paint on them so I will have to take that off and repaint a 1/2 gray like mine were.

I got these from Tamaz's they are very nice looking and the box's said GM approved. The gray looks nice on the chrome. I have seen older reproductions that are not as nice. I paid $98 for them. They also have the chrome 67's.
Now I guess i am going to have to carefully bend them to get them on. It was not easy to get the oem's off so I guess that the new one's will follow that pattern. I will update when I get them on to tell you how they line up.
