I am having a really hard time adjusting my hood so that it sits down in the corners by the cowl when shut. I know my hood will fit since I took off my hinges and set it in the channel, it fits fine that way, and I have slotted my hinges to bring them down, yet nothing I do works. Is it true that if I slot the holes the opposite way it will help it sit down? As it is, the hood sits up over an inch in the corners at the cowl. Any suggestions for me to get this straightened out? Thanks
I had a heck of a time with mine, but eventually got it...just took alot of trial and errors...tighten the bolts some ,just enough that you can move the hood forcibly, but it stays otherwise... I ended up having mine almost tight, the using a metal flat bar , tapping it with a hammer , hammering down the hinges to correct level...the rear bolt was hard to get down far enough...I never had to slot the existing holes anymore than they came from the factory..I also used new hinges , bought from Classic...
John, does your hood stay up all the way when you open it? If the springs are tired, it may contribute. But, if I remember right... if you can get the rear of the hinge adjusted down, and the front adjusted up slightly, this will bring the rear corners down. But it's been a long time... maybe I'll have to go play with mine to make sure...
To get the rear down, have a friend push up on the hood when it's fully opened and the hinges loosely bolted to the fender. Before his/her arms give out, tighten the bolts and slowly close the hood to make sure it doesn't bind or rub on something. You should be okay if it doesn't.
